FLINT, Michigan — The state closed its Department of Human Services office on Pierson Road on Monday, citing health and safety reasons.

The facility is “having problems with mold and leakage,” Michigan DHS Director Ismael Ahmed said tonight.

Ahmed said he ordered the facility closed after visiting it prior to the community forum held tonight at Mott Community College Regional Technology Center.

Among the topics at the forum was a Flint adult foster care home where two people died in February.
