The Pentucket Regional School Committee agreed to fund the remaining portion of money needed to completely remediate a mold problem in the fifth- and sixth-grade wing of the Donaghue Elementary School in Merrimac but still needs another $60,000 to resolve the issue throughout the rest of the building.
At a special meeting last night, the committee had an air-quality specialist on hand to review results of testing conducted on Nov. 9. The building has no toxic mold, but does have some very high levels of the type of mold and bacteria commonly found in attics and outdoors. About 40 parents were on hand to participate in the discussion, but only one official from Merrimac was there.
