In response to health concerns from employees at the downtown Rapid City Social Security Administration office, the U.S. General Services Administration has said it has taken several steps to improve the air quality in the historic building.
A spokeswoman for the administration, which leases space for government offices, said Tuesday that eight steps -- including mold removal and improved air circulation -- have been taken to address concerns raised in air quality studies of the building.
Employees of the office at 605 Main St. complained to their Denver office about symptoms including itchy, watery or dry eyes, sneezing and sinus congestion. They said they are concerned for their own health and that of the approximately 130 clients who come into their office daily, the Journal reported Saturday.
