Homes in Silver Creek are still being repaired after the devastating floods hit in August. Dozens of volunteers from Western New York AmeriCorps and Home Depot are now back on location to help residents. "In August we came down here for disaster relief for 10 straight days and helped out the folks here in Silver Creek," WNY AmeriCorps volunteer Brandon Barry said. "We're coming back and doing a follow up disaster relief trip.
"Three more homes have been chosen to be worked on. "We're doing a complete demolition and knocking down everything inside. Another home we are fixing up a basement, ripping out carpet and replacing carpet," Tammy Papke with Home Depot said. "Ripping out insulation and putting in insulation."
"Completely devastated by the floods and there's already black mold damage," WNY AmeriCorps volunteer Sharon Morgante said. "So we have to take down all the walls, remove any left over personal belongings that are in the house."
