Oxford, Mass — Toxic mold has been found in the school administration building, but town officials are taking steps to make the building safe for employees.
After mold was suspected in the building at 5 Sigourney St., the town hired Hub Testing Laboratory of Waltham to do air quality tests there. A report from certified microbial consultant Susan Boyle, company vice president, confirmed several types of mold are in the building.
Richard A. Donais, facilities maintenance coordinator, said recommendations from Hub Testing included minor repairs that were done quickly to ensure a safe work environment for employees. A large HEPA filter is being installed in the basement, and air will be vented outside to give the basement negative air pressure “so mold spores will no longer travel upstairs.”
