Tenants at Earle Adams Village subsidized housing are upset that roofs and walls in the complex have not been repaired in five years, according to Marilyn Harrison.

Rooftops have been covered with tarps for much of that time and tenants are dealing with mould on their ceilings and walls.

"Our roof is in dire need of repair," said Harrison, an Earle Adams tenant for the past 10 years.

Earle Adams is owned by Metro Vancouver Housing Corporation and located in Champlain Heights at 7550 Northumberland Ave. A creation of the Metro Vancouver regional district, the corporation runs more than 50 rental sites in the Lower Mainland.

Harrison said she has mould on her bedroom ceiling, and that tenants have been told to wash away mould with bleach and water.

Will Johnston, chief building official with the City of Vancouver, compiled all of the building permits requested for the Earle Adams complex over the past five years. On June 21, 2005, a permit was issued for exterior alterations and was completed.
