The head of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Police Service is cautiously optimistic his officers will be working out of a new police station by the end of the year.
Past attempts to have the prefabricated building erected on the reserve have been blocked by protesters who refused to allow the $1.9-million structure to be delivered to the York Road site.
Mohawk police Chief Ron Maracle said the set-up modular building is scheduled to start in early October, a year after about two dozen Mohawk protesters thwarted it's delivery by staking out the site and mounting blockades.
