ORLANDO, Fla. -- The University of Central Florida announced it's suspending its agreement to refer thousands of students to live in the Pegasus Landing student housing complex each year, hours after Local 6 started asking questions about the arrangement.
UCF student Sean Skopek told Local 6 he was hospitalized after inhaling spores of mold in building 4 of Pegasus Landing Apartments, a sprawling complex adjacent to UCF. Skopek claimed he first reported the issue to management in December 2008.
The university said it had tried to work with the complex management to solve the mold situation after learning of Skopek's situation in February, but was forced to take this action because it has not received a comprehensive plan from the owners of the property that appropriately addresses all inspection and repair issues.
