In a recorded phone call to parents Sunday evening, West Branch Community Schools Superintendent Craig Artist announced that cleanup of mold found in the middle school is complete, but air filtering will continue through Tuesday, delaying the start of school until Wednesday.
Volleyball and football players, however, are asked to appear today (Monday, Aug. 23) to start practices.

With the start of school delayed until Wednesday, Aug. 25, the middle school pupils will be one week behind schedule for the coming school year.

Also, an underground pipe tied to the geothermal heating and air conditioning system, as well as phone and fiber optic lines, were accidentally cut during digging at Hoover Elementary. That led to the early release on Friday of the kindergarten-through-fifth grade pupils due to heat, but also the high school pupils because buses transport both elementary and high school children together, Artist said.
