Water damage restoration experts are saying the water that swept into perhaps 80 Timberline and Doney Park homes is considered dirty, and it will likely lead to mold if not removed quickly.
"The name of the game is get things dried as fast as you can -- anything you want to save," said Ryan Sanders, operations manager for Servicemaster Clean. "... I can't stress enough how important it is. You have to get the house dried out as soon as possible."
That means shoveling out mud, pulling up carpet and possibly cutting into walls.
It can be done by calling a licensed contractor or a water damage restoration company.
Carpet-cleaning companies are often less comprehensive in inspecting walls for damage, but they are great for getting water and mud out of a home quickly, Sanders said.
