If you’ve got the water out of your carpets that was brought on by the recent heavy rains, mold is next on the to-do list. Here are some tips that health officials have passed along:
Remove standing water and wet materials. If drywall, carpet padding or insulation is not easily cleaned, it may have to be replaced.
Consider wearing gloves, goggles and an N-95 particle respirator found at most hardware stores. People with mold allergies or asthma should not try to clean it up.
Ventilate the area and allow it to dry thoroughly.
