Summer comes with some extra work for area school districts. And just days before students are set to return for another school year.
Mold was recently found in both the Augusta and Durand school districts.
Augusta School District Superintendent Bill Perry says an equipment problem combined with a wet, humid summer likely led to the mold problems at the Augusta Elementary School.
"We had a lightening strike at the end of June that knocked out our environmental control system in our building, so we were without air conditioning for six weeks," says Perry. "And I believe that led to improving the environment for the mold."
