Five classrooms at Ashbrook High previously closed because of mold problems are now open.

The latest air quality test after the room was cleaned Tuesday showed positive results, said Mike Schrum, professional engineer at Terracon in Charlotte. Gaston County Schools contracted with the company to do the air quality tests.

“It’s a comparable air test,” Schrum said. “Mold is everywhere. As long as we’re getting mold counts below the outside air, we feel confident.”

That wasn’t the case earlier when tests showed a higher mold spore count.
