Williamston's Explorer Elementary has been cleared of mold that formed on carpets in fourth- and fifth-grade classrooms and will be ready to open Tuesday for the first day of school.

An open house scheduled for Wednesday at Explorer was canceled, said Superintendent Narda Murphy. The mold had been removed by then, but furniture was moved out of classrooms so carpets could be cleaned and teachers had not been able to get back into the rooms yet to prepare them for the open house.
