Florida State University students headed to the Robert Manning Strozier library on campus might have encountered blocked access to the building’s top three floors.

Strozier recently experienced what is known as a mold bloom, a growth of mold on library books.

As the cleanup process continues throughout the week, those seeking quiet study zones or copies of a particular set of books might experience the different kinds of challenges the recent bloom is continuing to cause.

On the afternoon of Aug. 18, library staff was in the process of shelving books when they noticed a book with mold on it.

The staff continued on and tried to gauge the extent of the mold bloom, before notifying library officials. The fifth, fourth and part of the third floor within Strozier library were affected by the mold bloom.
