The city school district announced Monday the temporary closing of its largest elementary school a day before the start of the school year because of mold.

In a late-afternoon meeting with parents in the Pleasantville High School auditorium, school administrators presented a plan that divides the approximately 550 students of Leeds Avenue School among five other schools in the district and one local church for at least the first week of school.
