Osceola County schools start in just one week, but nearly a dozen schools have developed a serious problem with mold. A source told WFTV the air conditioning was turned off to save money and now crews are scrambling to clean up.
School officials say the emergency clean up cost alone is $100,000, but that figure doesn't include materials that have to be replaced and overtime for employees. Sources say the mold is growing on desks at Horizon Middle School in Kissimmee.
The school district isn't only dealing with Horizon, but at least a dozen others. Parents worry their kids could get sick.
