Gordon Residence Hall has been plagued by a considerable amount of mold in two rooms in the past year that has led to the evacuation of residents from those rooms.

“We are replacing the heating hot water line, and we think that will help,” said University Student Housing Director Sean Duggan. “We looked under the building and discovered there was a problem and that we needed to fix it.”

The department works with the Environmental Health and Safety Department when these situations arise in order to help identify the problem and provide a solution.

“We have four individuals licensed by the state as mold consultants,” said Matt Roe of the Environmental Health and Safety Department. “One of them will respond to a complaint and do an assessment. If there is over 25 square feet of mold in a room, we involve a contractor.”
