The final bell may have rung, but it’s not exactly summer break for certain departments within Onslow County Schools.
“Central office in summertime is a whole lot busier than people realize,” said Barry Collins, the spokesman for Onslow County Schools. “There is a lot to do to get ready for next year.”
When school lets out Steve Myers, the assistant superintendent of auxiliary and information services at Onslow County Schools, said it’s always a busy time for him, given all the repair, replacement and maintenance projects needed at every school.
Heating and air conditioning repair and replacement are always a big focus, Myers said.
Right now, Trexler Middle School’s 900 building has its ceilings torn out while new air conditioning units are replaced, and next week White Oak High School’s 200 building will have its air conditioners replaced, he said.
