Some parents of Oak Ridge Elementary School students have taken the bit between their teeth, and are revolting against the endless rounds of testing and remediation that have evicted the students from the school. At least 90 parents have signed a petition calling for Guilford County Schools to let the students back into the school by Jan. 4.

Oak Ridge Elementary students have been attending classes at Colfax Elementary School (kindergarten and first grade), Oak Ridge Military Academy (grades two and three) and mobile classrooms at Northwest Middle School (grades four and five) since the start of school on August 25. The school system has been putting off announcing a timeline for students to return to Oak Ridge Elementary until it gets a report on the claimed environmental hazards at the school from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), part of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which sent a team of scientists and technicians to inspect Oak Ridge Elementary in July.
