CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A mold problem that has caused the closure of the Montrose Elementary library is most likely due to moist insulation in the ductwork, Kanawha County school officials said.
The library has been closed while two air scrubbers and four dehumidifiers remove moisture and mold spores from the air.
Before the library officially closed, every book was wiped down with a 10 percent bleach solution after a gray, dusty mold was found on some of the older books, said Terry Hollandsworth, the school system's director of maintenance.
