Four-year-old Joaquin Robles will begin kindergarten next fall. What’s worrying his mother, Mellanie Robles, is whether or not he’s ready.

“He’s in desperate need of Pre-K,” Robles said at the Questa Chevron, Friday (Feb. 17). “I don’t feel equipped to be a teacher and it’s unnecessary.”

About 20 kids who used to attend Questa Head Start have been making do with weekly home visits since mold shut down the building that houses both Head Start and Questa’s Ancianos Center on Embargo Road in November. Twelve are expected to enter kindergarten this fall.
