School officials are seeking long-term solutions to a space crunch and disrepair in the district — problems worsened and magnified by the discovery of mold in portable classrooms at the Eleanor G. Hewitt School over the summer.
The Board of Education is weighing options that include replacing the portable units or having a larger capital program to improve schools. Board members' key concern is creating a plan acceptable to the public, three years after voters rejected a $28.8 million school improvement plan.
On Tuesday, board members met with Ringwood residents and parents to begin a community conversation on how to fix the problems at the Hewitt School.
