It’s already cost a lot, and one thing is certain – it’s going to cost taxpayers even more.
Guilford County Schools now says it is over budget on repairs taking place at Oak Ridge Elementary; it is hoped that the repairs will fix what may have been making students and staff sick since 2005.
Leo Bobadilla, chief operations officer, said the current work being done at the school is estimated to cost $450,000 – $40,000 more than the $410,000 that the school board set aside to complete repairs and modifications to the building. And costs could top the revised $450,000 estimate.
That’s because it does not include any additional work that will be necessary after the school system receives a final report from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the government agency that inspected the school in July.
