The state's Division of Occupational Safety has ordered the town to take action to correct problems related to air quality in parts of Town Hall.

The agency's Dec. 18 order to town manager Andrew Gala followed an Oct. 13 inspection prompted by a complaint by town planner Marc Resnick.

He and other workers stationed in the former police station area in the basement of Town Hall reported health concerns or symptoms.

Several of the mandates relate to water damage and moisture, which allow mold growth that can cause breathing problems.

The Town Hall basement flooded last July, and flooded a number of time in past years when police officers worked there.

At one point, the police union filed a complaint which resulted in government orders for corrctive action, which was done.
